* 非常によく使われる分詞構文である。逆接で使用する。



consult with   相談する
I want to consult with my experts back in Tokyo tonight and will report back tomorrow morning.
 

* withなしの他動詞用法もある。



take part in   …に参加する
I would also like to take part in the work of the drafting group.
 

* participate inも同義である。



flag one's interest in   …に関心を示す
I want to flag my interest in this subject and I will join the reflector group.


congratulate   祝す
I wish to congratulate the German delegate on his excellent proposal.


intervention   発言
Referring to the Chinese intervention a while ago, I think Mr. Wong raised a very important point.


intervene   発言する、介入する
I'm sorry to intervene at this late stage in the discussion but I feel that we have lost sight of our objectives.


place on record   記録に留める
Mr. Chairman, please place on record that I have strongly objected to the adoption of this article.


think out loud   考えながらしゃべる(思いつき)
I'm just thinking out loud but it might be a good idea to delete the sentence altogether.

* ITU-Tにおいては、正式な検討をstudyという。勧告の中で項目は示しているが内容はまだ要検討の場合に勧告本文にfurther studyと記述することで、今後の課題を明確にする効果がある。



move   動議を提出する

point of order   議事進行に関する動議

reflector (group)   メールによる意見交換リフレクタ
We should set up a new reflector group on the subject to pursue study until the next meeting.
 

* リフレクタ (メーリングリスト) は、会合のメンバ・事務局間で意見や情報の共有やアナウンスをするため、また議論を進めるために使用される。



terms of reference   付託事項
I feel that the Russian proposal goes beyond our terms of reference.
 

* missionと同義と考えてよい。この場合のtermsは常に複数形である。



change hats   立場を変える
I will now change my hat and speak as the liaison rapporteur.
 

* 別の hat をかぶるという意味で、ここで hat は「役職」や「資格」を表す。主義主張のある企業の代表者と、中立であるべき役職者の立場を変える際に使われる表現である。



adjourned   散会します
The meeting is adjourned.
 

* ITU-T におけるSG全体会合の場合、初日にオープニング全体会合 (opening plenary) を開催し、最終日にクロージング全体会合  (closing plenary) を開催する。これは、一つのSG全体会合とみなされ、初日に開会し、中断したのちに、最終日に再会すると考える。この場合、open (開会)、adjourn (中断)、 resume (再開)、close (閉会)となる。
