会議参加者の基本表現

2.2　賛成する

会議の主目的は、ある提案に対して合意形成を図ることです。会議参加者が賛成を表明することは極めて重要であり、タイミングよく発言することが重要です。 自分の提案に対して他の参加者からの賛同を得るには、他の参加者の提案に対して積極的に賛成を表明し、良好な関係を作ることが重要となります。

support　　　支持する
Mr. Chairman, I would like to support the French proposal. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.
Is anyone supporting this proposal?
Is there any support for this proposal?
Could I hear from those in support of this proposal?
Does anyone have anything to say in support of this proposal?
 

* anyone/anybodyは、単数と考える。

in favor of　　　…を好む
If we are to express our preference, we are in favor of the Swedish proposal.
 

* Denmark (デンマーク) の形容詞はDanish、Finland (フィンランド)の形容詞はFinnish、Sweden (スウェーデン) の形容詞はSwedish、Netherlands (オランダ) の形容詞はDutch、Switzerland (スイス) の形容詞はSwissである。

second　　　支持する
We second the motion raised by Peru.
 

* 正式の会議での動議に対して同意 (支持) することを second と言う。通常の会話や議論では、内容への同意はsecondではなく、agree with などを使用する。

associate oneself with　　　…と同意見
I associate myself with the previous speakers and I don't think I need to repeat the argument.


fully agree with　　　全面賛成
I fully agree with the Chinese opinion that we have to thoroughly discuss the security issue before we make any decision.


can go along with　　　同調できる
Although we do have some differences, we can go along with the UK on this issue if the majority agrees.


accept　　　受け容れる
I can accept the Korean proposal as long as the scope is limited to this recommendation.


have no objection to　　　…に反対しない
Of course, I have no objection to Mr. Brown's idea. I just wanted to build further on it


add our support to　　　我々も支持する
We would like to add our support to the Brazilian delegation.


be happy with　　　…で結構
Chairman, we had an ample discussion on the proposal raised by the rapporteur and I'm happy with the solution you explained.
 

* すごく簡単な表現だが、同意を示すには十分な表現である。

endorse　　　賛成する
I think by now everybody is ready to endorse the Chairman's solution.
 

* 是認する・追認する、という意味がある。本来判断を下すべき会議 (組織) の決定に対し、別の会議 (組織) が是認・追認する場合に多く利用される。複数の会議が決定に関与する場合、どちらに決定権があるのかという議論に陥る危険性があるので注意が必要である。
