TTC 40th Anniversary
40 Years of Advancing with the Power of Standardization to Shape the Future of ICT
With heartfelt gratitude for your continued support, we remain committed to taking on new challenges for the next era.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of TTC, established on October 25, 1985, as part of the telecommunications liberalization policy implemented in the same year.
Since its founding, TTC has worked to promote standardization in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), contributing significantly to the development of the industry. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the generous support and cooperation we have received from so many individuals and organizations over the years.
The year 1985 also saw the opening of the Tsukuba Science Expo.
At the Expo, visitors experienced the Information Network System (INS), which used optical fiber to connect the venue with locations across the country, enabling high-definition television broadcasts and more.
The theme of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, now being held, is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.
”Over the past 40 years, technologies in the ICT field—such as the internet and mobile communications—have rapidly advanced. As a result, the focus of ICT standardization has transited from ensuring network interconnectivity, quality, and safety, to enabling ICT to address social challenges and contribute to the realization of a vibrant future society, as highlighted in the theme of this year’s Expo.
In a time of rapid and diverse changes, TTC, as Japan’s national standards body for ICT, must continue to respond flexibly. As ICT enhances the convenience of our daily lives, collaboration across different industries becomes increasingly essential. Promoting cross-industry standardization requires close cooperation with industry-specific standardization organizations. To this end, TTC will actively pursue partnerships with such organizations by organizing seminars, workshops, and other collaborative forums.
We remain committed to contributing to the standardization of ICT infrastructure that supports future society.
The Telecommunications Technology Committee (TTC)
President, Director-General
Hideyuki IWATA
On the occasion of our 40th anniversary, we have received warm congratulatory messages from standardization organizations both in Japan and abroad. We extend our heartfelt appreciation for their kind words and continued support.
